Yep.  It’s another beautifully grey and somber afternoon at the office. And yes it once again looks like it’s going to rain soon.  You look outside and you can hear the same old conversations picking up about what the weather‘s doing.  Your boss, in one of those moods again, is giving you that historic speech about budget.  Or cost.  You know it all too well.  You hear that speech once a week:  Same time same place.  Word for word.  You nod…and listen, but mostly, you just nod. 

Suddenly, around the part pertaining to deadlines or something like that, the strangest feeling comes over you.  You struggle to identify it at first, but you’re pretty certain it’s not good.  You know this by the way it crept up on you – through your stomach – as if to tease you into remembrance.   Remembrance?  Remember what?  Your search for the lost something in your brain begins, setting off an internal squabble of thoughts as you furiously go through the checklist of daily activities.  Fed the cat.  Check.  Closed the door to the flat.  Check.  Placed the key under the mat.  Check.  Oh this is pointless!  You’ll probably figure it out when you get home. 

HOME?!?  Oh NO!!!  You’re supposed to move out today!!!  How could you have missed that?  It’s not like you didn’t receive a three months’ “For Sale by Owner” notice three months ago, along with a “final week’s notice” last week clearly indicating that the flat you’ve been renting had been sold, and you were to have all your belongings  (that would include those funny shower curtains) packed up and removed from the flat because the new owners were moving in TODAY!

Oh bugger.  Now by the time you get “home” your stuff will probably be sprawled out on the street waiting for you like an angry child you forgot to pick up after soccer practice.  That’s if it’s even there.  “You know what”, you tell yourself with the upmost conviction, “it’s about time I got myself my own place”.
